GEOLOGISTS
at the public’s service

Oil, gas and mineral exploration and exploitation
Groundwater catchment and protection
Contaminated land characterization and restoration
Engineering geology

These are the areas in which geologists contribute to Québec society. More than 1,000 geologists practise in Québec in geophysical exploration, mineral resources, hydrogeology, the environment and engineering geology. To be able to do so, they must be members in good standing of the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ), which is governed by the Professional Code.
Established by the Geologists Act which came into effect on August 22, 2001, the Ordre des géologues du Québec is made up of all geologists qualified to practise in Québec. The mission of the OGQ, like that of all professional orders, is to protect the public’s interest by ensuring the professionalism of its members.
